The city can no longer be understood through a single dominant model of dwelling, different households inhabit domestic space in different ways, resulting in diverse spatial needs, rhythms of occupation and forms of social interaction.
Spaces of Transition – Alone Together
In a superdiverse city, housing can no longer be based on a single way of living. This project explores how collective space can extend domestic life beyond the dwelling, creating room for different household structures, cultural practices and everyday routines. Through the transformation of an existing building, it proposes an adaptable framework that allows multiple ways of living to coexist and evolve over time.
This project explores how housing can accommodate different ways of living within a superdiverse urban context. Rather than relying on a single model of dwelling, it proposes an adaptable framework that combines compact housing units with a network of collective spaces. These shared spaces support activities that cannot always take place within the dwelling itself and allow residents to extend domestic life beyond the boundaries of their home. Through the transformation of an existing building, the project creates a balance between privacy and commonness, enabling diverse households, lifestyles and forms of occupation to coexist and evolve over time.
